Infrastructure

The laboratory includes a facility for the development of materials by using physical vapor deposition techniques with metal evaporator, electronic gun and sputtering, as well as chemical vapor deposition. It also has a device for the production of thick films and devices for the preparation of powders (chemical precipitation, flame spray pyrolysis & microwave assisted powder production).

It also has a clean room for tests and measurements with emphasis on calibration of magnetic sensors and characterization of magnetic materials. Specifically, it has a calibration device for magnetometers, devices for characterizing magnetic materials (magnetization loops, magnetostriction and magnetoresistance – magneto-impedance).

Moreover, it has a facility for the development of bioproducts, with emphasis on the development, characterization and applications of magnetic microalgae, cell culture, hydrogen production, etc.

Finally, it has a laboratory room for the training of students in materials and sensors.

The laboratory employs 7 postdoctoral collaborators and supports the elaboration of more than 15 doctoral theses. It maintains close relations with over 30 national and international research and academic institutions and with over 50 national and international companies, with which it collaborates and promotes its research results.
